No. 4 Pointers Win Third Straight

PHOENIX, Ariz. – UW-Stevens Point shot 70.4 percent from the floor in the game's opening half and held Simpson College to just 14 first half points as they cruised to their third straight victory in as many days with a 75-42 victory over the Storm at the Cactus Jam Tournament. 

The Pointers knocked down 19 of their first 27 shots in the game's opening period on their way to building a 30 point advantage, 40-10, before trading buckets with the Storm and taking a 29 point edge, 43-14, into halftime. 

The Pointers cooled off in the second half, shooting 41 percent, but the stellar UWSP defensive effort limited Simpson to just 10 made baskets in the final half to cruise to the 33 point victory.

UW-Stevens Point (8-2) held a 12-0 advantage on points in the paint and took full advantage of a 40-12 edge in scoring from the bench. 

Jordan Brezinski (Muskego, WI/Muskego) led the way with 17 points off the bench while Tyler Tillema (Randolph, WI/Randolph) added 14, Jordan Giordana (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) added 11 and Louis Hurd (Portage/Portage) added 10. Nick Krull (Marshall/Marshall) led the team with six rebounds. 

Seth Hutcheson led the Storm with 12, their only player in double figures. He also collected a team-high eight rebounds. 

No. 4 UW-Stevens Point completes their four game in four day road trip on Thursday with a 5 p.m. MST tip-off against Linfield College of Oregon in Phoenix.
