STEVENS POINT – The Pointers defense held the MSOE Raiders to 20 percent shooting in the game as the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team cruised to a 72-28 victory Sunday afternoon at the Berg Gymnasium.
UW-Stevens Point jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead before MSOE could get on the board and managed to build a 28 lead by halftime, taking a 36-8 lead into the break.
The Pointers improved on their poor first half shooting by connecting on 51.7 percent of their shots in the second.
UW-Stevens Point kept the defensive pressure on as they held MSOE to 20 percent shooting for the game.
Every Pointer who played in the game scored with Alyssa Olp (Brillion, WI/Brillion) leading the way with 10 points. Christin Coles (Hustisford/Hustisford) collected a team high six rebounds.
Carol Cayo led the Raiders with nine points and 12 rebounds.
The Pointers outscored MSOE 40-12 in the paint and converted 30 turnovers into 29 points.
UW-Stevens Point (8-2) will take a ten day break before they travel to the Northwest to face Pacific Lutheran on December 29th. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
