BLAINE, Minn- Nick Graves (Hewitt, WI/Ashwaubenon) stopped all 16 shots he faced as the UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team won its third consecutive game Friday night, shutting out Bethel University 2-0.
Harrison Niemann (Canton, MI/Novi) scored both of the Pointers goals, both power play goals and Graves and the Pointer defense did the rest to shut out the Royals.
Niemann's first goal came midway through the first period off of a pass from Jon Bockmann (Wind Lake, WI/Muskego) to put the Pointers up 1-0.
The score remained 1-0 all the way until 2:43 left in the game when Niemann scored again this time off assists from Alex Handy (Carmel, IN/Park Tudor School) and Luke Nesper (Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) putting the Pointers up 2-0.
The Pointer defense stopped all five power play opportunities the Royals had and they allowed just one power play shot attempt the entire game.
The win improves the Pointers to 3-1 on the season. They will remain in Minnesota for a Saturday night game against unbeaten Hamline University with the game set to start at 7:00 p.m.
