RIVER FALLS- Jared Jenkins (Milwaukee/Rufus King) had nine catches for 198 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown as the Pointers dominated UW-River Falls 58-13 Saturday afternoon.
The win improved the Pointers to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in WIAC play. It was all the Pointers first victory at UW-River Falls since the 2004 season.
Keith Ingram (Milwaukee, WI/Riverside) got the Pointers rolling right away as he scampered in from 34 yards out just under three minutes into the game to give the Pointers a 7-0 lead. Ingram finished the game with 86 yards on just eight carries.
After forcing a Falcons punt the Pointers scored on their first play of their second drive as Jake Swank (Oregon/Oregon) hooked up with Jenkins for a 73 yard touchdown pass putting the Pointers on top 14-0.
Swank found Jenkins again with 3:56 left in the first quarter, this time from nine yards out, making the score 21-0 after one quarter.
After a River Falls touchdown made the score 21-7, Jenkins found the end zone again this time running it in from a yard out and putting the Pointers up 28-7 going into the half.
The third quarter was all Pointers as they outscored the Falcons 17-0. After Jered Fohrman (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) kicked a 47 yard field goal to give the Pointers a 31-7 lead, Jenkins scored again this time on a 39 yard pass from Swank.
Swank then found Anthony Aker (Milwaukee/Brown Deer) for a 53 yard touchdown to give the Pointers a 45-7 lead going into the final quarter.
In the final quarter the Pointers got rushing touchdowns from Kyle Fuhrman (Reedsburg/Reedsburg) and Casey Barnes (Mequon, WI/Homestead) to put the finishing touches on the Falcons. Fuhrman scored from five yards out and Barnes ran it in from 36 yards away.
Swank finished the day with 304 passing yards and four touchdowns, as he completed 15 of 20 passes. Aker caught five catches for 96 yards and Fuhrman had 53 yards rushing to help power the Pointers offense.
Leading the way for the defense was Peter Petersen (Pittsville/Pittsville) who finished the game with 10 tackles. Senior linebacker Brandon Stremkowski (Stevens Point/SPASH) had an interception for the Pointers and Joe Mleziva (Casco, WI/Luxemburg-Casco) and Matt Lunder (Waunakee/Waunakee) added sacks for the defense.
The Pointer defense also recovered two fumbles as Collin Johnson (Sheboygan, WI/South) and Ethan Firgens (Suring, WI/Suring) recovered the two River Falls fumbles.
Next weekend will be the regular season finale for the Pointers as they will host the Pioneers of UW-Platteville at Community Stadium at Goerke Park. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
