STEVENS POINT – Angela Gallow (Menasha, WI/Menasha)'s two goals powered the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship match as they defeated UW-Platteville 3-0 on Thursday afternoon in a WIAC tournament semifinal.
Gallow pushed in her first goal past Pioneer's goalkeeper Kaitlyn Wiedeman in the first period, giving the Pointers an early advantage.
The Pointers were able to add a second goal in the first half, as Gallow's shot attempt was blocked but Kirsti Nickels (Appleton/East) was there for the rebound as she put Point up 2-0.
The Pointers sealed the game in the second period when Gallow connected on a long range goal over Wiedeman's head, finalizing the score a 3-0 Point.
On the day, Gallow scored two goals and was also credited with an assist. Liz Hunter (Stevens Point/SPASH) recorded three saves while Wiedeman registered 13.
The Pointers dominated in the shots department, outshooting UW-Platteville 29-3.
UW-Stevens Point (15-2-1) will face second-seeded UW-Whitewater for the WIAC Tournament Championship. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in Stevens Point.
