SHEBOYGAN - Ben Strobel (Neenah, WI/Neenah), Ryan Conat (New London, WI/New London) and Steve Wozniak (Neillsville/Greenwood) recorded pin fall victories on Wednesday evening at the 15th-ranked UW-Stevens Point wrestling team opened the dual portion of their schedule with a 33-9 victory over the Muskies of Lakeland College at the Wehr Center.
The Pointers won seven of the 10 eight classes on their way to the victory.
After opening the night at a 3-0 deficit with a loss at 184, the Pointers rebounded with victories by Brandon Jochem (Hustisford/Hustisford) and Wozniak to retake the lead.
The Pointers also earned victories from Jordan Kust (Clintonville, WI/Shawano), Mark Puckhaber (West DePere/) and Jordan Schulte (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) to start the season on a positive note.
The Pointers (1-0) return to action when they travel to the Concordia Open in Mequon on Saturday, Nov. 20. UWSP will then host UW-Oshkosh in their first home dual of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
