Pointers Fall to St. Norbert 3-2

Box Score

STEVENS POINT- The UW-Stevens Point Men's Hockey saw its four game winning streak snapped at the hands of St. Norbert Friday at the K.B. Willett, 3-2.

The Green Knights struck first, as they scored 9:31 into the first period when Brandon Longley snuck one past Pointer goaltender Nick Graves (Hewitt, WI/Ashwaubenon).  Longley was assisted by Nick Tabisz and Johan Ryd.

The score remained 1-0 until 14:07 remaining in the third period when the Pointers evened things up on a goal from Kyle Politz (Apple Valley, MN/Apple Valley).  #Garrett Suter (Madison/Oregon)# shot one from the blue line and Politz deflected it in to make the score 1-1.  Johnny Meo (Vernon Hills, IL/Ursuline) also was credited with an assist on the play.

St. Norbert's however had an answer for the Pointers as they scored two goals just 11 seconds apart to give themselves a 3-1 lead.

First, Tabisz scored a power play goal off a Kyle Stroh assist to give the Green Knights a 2-1 lead.  Eleven seconds later Ryd found the back of the net off assists from Adam Hammerbeck and Scott Pulak giving the Green Knights a 3-1 going into the final period.

The Pointers made things interesting in the last period as Nic Polaski (Delafield/Wasson) scored just 4:17 into the final period off a pass from Harrison Niemann (Canton, MI/Novi) to make the score 3-2.

That was as close as the game would get as both goaltenders stopped everything they saw the rest of to give the Green Knights a 3-2 win.

Graves finished the night with 17 saves, while B.J. O'Brien had 19 saves for the Green Knights.

The Pointers and St. Norbert will meet again tomorrow night at K.B. Willett Arena for another NCHA matchup.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
