WHEATON, Ill. – Mary Jean Cornelius (West Bend/West)' goal in the 14th minute of the first half would not hold up as the sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team suffered their first defeat of the 2010 season, falling 4-1 to the 21st-ranked Thunder of Wheaton College.

Cornelius tallied the game's first goal at the 13:30 mark of the game's opening half, scoring unassisted.

Wheaton evened the score just before halftime, as Val Lelle scored her first goal of the season off a corner kick assist from Katelyn Kishkuas.

Wheaton struck twice in the matter of two minutes midway through the second half, once in the 64th minute and again in the 66th minute, pushing their lead to 3-1.

The Thunder added an insurance goal in the 74th minute to seal the victory.

Liz Hunter (Stevens Point/SPASH) tallied four saves in the loss.

The Pointers (10-1) return to action on Saturday, October 9 when they travel to Whitewater for a 1:30 p.m. match-up with the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater.
