DULUTH – Nick Kenney (Wixom, MI/Walled Lake Western) scored two second period goals to help spur the UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team to a weekend sweep of the 11th-ranked Saints of St. Scholastica with a 4-3 victory at Mars Lakeview Arena in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action.

The Pointers (2-1-0, 2-0-0 NCHA) used first period goals from Sean McNeely (Brooklyn Park, MN/Osseo) and Max Bobrow (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) to jump in front of the host Saints 2-0 after the first period of play.

In the second period, the Saints cut their deficit in half with a goal from Riley Riddell.

Kenney responded with his two goals midway through the second period, giving UW-Stevens Point the 4-1 lead after two periods of play.

In the third, the Saints came fighting back, adding goals at the 5:51 and 11:21 mark to cut the Pointer lead to just one, 4-3.

The rest of the way, Nick Graves (Hewitt, WI/Ashwaubenon) kept the Saints from scoring the equalizer as UW-Stevens Point held on for the back-to-back conference wins. Graves finished with 36 saves in net for the Pointers.

The Pointers continue their four game swing when they head to Bethel and Hamline next Friday and Saturday before returning home to face the league foe St. Norbert College.
