STEVENS POINT - The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point women's volleyball team won both of its matches on Friday afternoon, defeating UW-Stout 3-0 in the day's opening match and then Cardinal Stritch University 3-2 in a thrilling nightcap.
Leading the way for the Pointers in the first match was
Morgan Bartkowiak (Slinger, WI/Slinger) with 11 kills. Senior
Kaitlin Wolfe (Roscoe, IL/Newman Catholic), the team's only senior, added nine kills on Senior Day.
Chantel York (Lake Geneva/Badger) has 28 assists in the first match while
Molly Elderbrook (Burlington/Burlington) had 11 digs.
Christina Brinkman (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) finished with 10 digs.
In the second game the Pointers needed all five games to defeat the Wolves, winning the match 3-2 by winning the final game 15-8.
The Pointers were led in game two by Wolfe and Katie Rau who each finished with 14 kills. York finished game two with 48 assists.
Elderbrook led the team again with 30 digs in the second match, while Brinkman finished with 25 digs.
The wins improved the Pointers to 9-1 at home this season and 18-11 overall.
The Pointers return to action tomorrow when they travel to Beloit for the Beloit College Triangular.
