STEVENS POINT – The 15th-ranked UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team cruised to its seventh Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) victory of the season on Thursday afternoon, defeating the Pioneers of UW-Platteville 2-0.

The Pointers improve to 14-1 overall and remain unblemished in conference play, setting up a showdown with fellow conference front-runner UW-Eau Claire next Saturday.

Angela Gallow (Menasha, WI/Menasha) started the scoring for the Pointers midway through the opening half when she scored off a pass from Vicki Bieschke (Oconomowoc/Waukesha Memorial) and Mary Jean Cornelius (West Bend/West).

Cornelius added a goal of her own 10 minutes into the second half, finding the top left corner of the net off another pass from Bieschke and Gallow.

UW-Stevens Point closes out the home portion of their regular season schedule on Sunday, Oct. 24 when they host the University of Chicago in nonconference action beginning at 1 p.m.
