Pointers fall 3-1 to No. 10 Titans

OSHKOSH – UW-Stevens Point came out on top in a back-and-forth second set but the 10th-ranked Titans of UW-Oshkosh proved to be too much, as they downed the Pointers 3-1 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening.

The Titans closed out the first set on a 14-5 run to seal a 25-16 victory. The Pointers rebounded with a closely contested second set that went to extra points as the Pointers came away with the 28-26 victory. Trailing 22-20 in the third set, Oshkosh came from behind to seal a 25-23 victory. In the fourth set, the Titans ran out to a 19-10 lead as they cruised to the 25-16 victory.

The Pointers (15-10, 2-3 WIAC) were led by Christina Brinkman (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central), who in four games, tallied a team-high 13 kills on 38 attempts. Chantel York (Lake Geneva/Badger) led the way with 33 assists and two service aces while Molly Elderbrook (Burlington/Burlington) had a team-best 17 digs.

Andrea Felton and Aleisha Bagin each tallied 12 kills in the Titan victory.

UW-Stevens Point returns to action on Friday, October 15 when they host UW-Stout in conference action beginning at 7 p.m.
