Box Score Box Score

DECORAH, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team got two first half goals from senior Jackie Spees (Wisconsin Rapids) and another from junior Vicki Bieschke (Oconomowoc) on their way to a 3-0 victory over the Norse of Luther College.

After suffering a shutout in the season opener, the No. 14 ranked Pointers struck early when Spees put a Lauryn Semling (Plover) pass into the back of the net in the fourth minute, giving the Pointers a 1-0 advantage.

Spees added another goal for the Pointers in the 19th minute, this time off a Kirsti Nickels (Appleton) pass, building a 2-0 advantage for UWSP. Just under a minute later, not to be left out, Bieschke tallied her first goal of the season, unassisted to push the advantage to 3-0.

Liz Hunter (Stevens Point) and the Pointer defense shut down the Norse offense the rest of the way, as Luther logged just two shots on goal, both turned away by the junior goalkeeper.

The Pointers (1-1-0) return to action Sunday, Sept. 6 when they face Nebraska Wesleyan in Decorah.
