Top-Ranked Titans too much for Pointers

Box Score

STEVENS POINT-The Titans of UW-Oshkosh (20-0, 4-0) were too much for the UW-Stevens Point (8-11, 1-2) volleyball team as they lost 3-0 to the number one ranked team in the country at Berg Gym on Wednesday evening.

The Pointers lost by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 28-26.

The Pointers trailed all of game one and held an early lead in game two, but the Titans pulled away down the stretch to cruise to the victory. In the third game the Pointers took the nation's top-ranked team to the limit, jumping in front to the early 3-2 lead. The Pointers held the advantage and held their largest lead of the game at 15-9 thanks to a Christina Brinkman (Bristol) kill.

Oshkosh came back to tie it up at 24-24, but the Pointers again pulled in front 26-25. But the undefeated Titans scored the final three points of the match to secure the victory.

Pam Nora (Forest Lake, Minn.) and Brinkman led the Pointers with eight kills each. Chantel York (Lake Geneva) contributed with 12 assists and Lizzy Taylor (Eau Claire) had 14 digs for UWSP.
