DAVENPORT, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point men's cross country team, ranked No. 13 in the nation in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, finished as the overall team champion at Friday's 2009 Brissman/Lundeen Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Augustana College at the Credit Island Golf Course.
Host Augustana finished in second while Olivet Nazarene, Grinnell and Truman State rounded out the top five.
The Pointers took home third through seventh place on the day, as
Tim Thornburg (Delafield) paced the Pointers with a third place showing in a time of 25:38.9.
Brandon Dworak (Denmark) finished in fourth with a time of 25:40 and
Nick Schaefer (New London) finished fifth with a time of 25:44.4.
Rounding out the top finishers for the Pointers,
Joel Heroux (Sturgeon Bay) finished sixth and
Terry Witkowski (Delafield) finished seventh, posting times of 25:45 and 25:46 respectively.
The Pointers return to action next Friday, Oct. 2 when they are in action at the Notre Dame Invite in South Bend, Ind.
