LA CROSSE – The Pointer volleyball team suffered their first conference loss of the season on Wednesday evening, falling 3-0 to the Eagles of UW-La Crosse.

The Pointers dropped the first set 25-17 and could not recover, pushing the Eagles to the limit in each of the final two matches, but La Crosse pulled away for the 25-23, 25-23 victory in each.

Pam Nora (Forest Lake, Minn.) led the way for the Pointers, recording a team-high nine kills on 27 attempts while Kaitlin Wolfe (Roscoe, IL) and Christina Brinkman (Bristol) each recorded seven. Chantel York (Lake Geneva) and Wolfe each recorded 13 assists on the evening while Kati Rau (Dorchester) led the way with 13 digs.

The Eagles were led by Brianne Stankus' 14 kills. Liz Schlobohm recorded 36 assists in the winning effort for La Crosse.

The Pointers (5-7, 1-1 WIAC) return to action Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26 at the Coe College Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
