STEVENS POINT - The Pointer women's soccer team stayed perfect in conference play Tuesday afternoon, as goalie Liz Hunter (Stevens Point) recorded her fourth straight shut-out of the season in route to a 5-0 victory over the Titans of UW-Oshkosh. The Pointer offense stayed strong, getting goals from five different players.

The Pointers wasted no time getting on the board when Vicki Bieschke (Oconomowoc) scored her second goal of the season four minutes into the game. The goal was a header, assisted by sophomore forward Kirsti Nickels (Appleton).

Point got another goal in the first half from senior midfielder Jackie Spees (Wisconsin Rapids) who scored unassisted. The Pointers took the 2-0 advantage into the half.

Oshkosh goalie Brittany Walder held off a few Pointer shots in the second half until Andrea Peiffer (Mequon) hit the back of the net on a one-timer assisted by Spees in the 54th minute, giving the UWSP a three goal edge. The Pointers went up 4-0 at the 65:04 mark on a goal by Sammy Greer (Rubicon), her first of the season, beating a drawn-out Walder and hit the ball into the open net.

Nickels added a late second half goal for the Pointers to put the game away for good, 5-0. She finished the day with a goal and an assist. Hunter stopped five Titan shots for her fourth shut-out this season.

The Pointers (4-1, 2-0 WIAC) return to action on Friday, Sept. 18, when they travel to Menomonie for a conference match-up against UW-Stout. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
