MADISON - Three member of the 2009 UW-Stevens Point softball team have been named to the league's All-Conference team. Junior utility player Brittany Zelenka (Marathon) received First Team All-WIAC accolades, junior shortstop Jessica Berger (Bonduel) was named to the Honorable Mention squad and junior catcher Brittany Peper (Reedsburg) was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Zelenka finished the season as the Pointers leader in batting average (.374), slugging percentage (.582) and on-base percentage (.424). She finished tied for second on the team in hits (34) and finished second in RBIs, driving in 22 runs.

Berger finished the season batting .293, starting 40 of the team's 41 games at shortstop. In 116 plate appearances, she collected 34 hits including six doubles. Berger also led the team in home runs, sending six balls beyond the outfield fence. She also pitched in two games, including a late-season start against St. Norbert College. In 10.0 innings, she surrendered just three earned runs and struck out six of the 37 batters she faced.

Peper appeared in 20 games this season for the Pointers, starting 12. She recorded five hits including two doubles, both in the team's final game of the season against UW-River Falls in the conference tournament. She also drove in three runs and drew four walks in 27 plate appearances.

The Pointers finished the 2009 season 21-20, their 16th straight season with 20 or more victories.
