WISCONSIN, RAPIDS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team (14-4) hit seven home runs on Sunday in a doubleheader sweep of Lake Forest (8-6). UWSP rallied for an 8-7 walk-off win in eight innings in game one and finished the sweep with an 8-4 win in game two.
Ashley Zygowski (Saukville, Wis./Port Washington) hit a home run in each game. She had four hits on the day with two RBI and three runs scored.
Hailee Thompson (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) and
Sophie Schmidt (Twin Lakes, Wis./Wilmot Union) each had four hits on the day. Thompson had three RBI and two runs scored. Schmidt drove in a pair and scored three times.

Trinity Otto (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and
Hannah Roepke (Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) hit safely in both games.
Game 1 – UWSP 8, LFC 7 (8 inn.)
Morgan Harwood (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) hit a first-pitch home run to lead off the second as UWSP took a 1-0 lead.
Lake Forest scored five runs on four hits in the fourth to put UWSP behind, 5-1.
Zygowski was hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the fourth. Schmidt hit a single as pinch runner
Cora Stodola (Mishicot, Wis./Mishicot) raced to third.
Aubrey Hafermann (Fond du Lac, Wis./St. Mary's Springs Academy) hit a sac fly to drive in a run. Thompson hit an RBI single with two away to get UWSP within 5-3.
Zygowski hit a leadoff home run in the sixth. Madsen drilled a solo hoe run with one down in the seventh to tie the game at 5-5.
LFC got two runs in the eighth, but Zygowski stranded the bases loaded to limit the damage.
In the bottom of the eighth, Zygowski led off with a double. Schmidt followed with a game-tying two run home run. Hafermann, Roberts and Thompson hit three-straight singles to load the bases. Two batters later, Otto singled up the middle for the walk-off win.
Harwood and Zygowski pitched 4.0 innings each. Harwood had five strikeouts. Zygowski fanned four and did not allow a run against.
Game 2 – UWSP 8, LFC 4
Thompson reached on catcher's interference with one away in the first. Madsen followed with a two-run home run to put UWSP on top.
Zygowski homered to begin the second. Schmidt drew a walk and Roberts had an infield single. Two LFC errors allowed two more runs to score as the Pointers were up, 5-0, after two.
Otto and Roepke hit back-to-back singles to start the third. Another LFC miscue gave UWSP a 6-1 lead.
Kodi Rizzo (Newark, Ill./Newark Community) got the sixth started with a double. Two batters later, Thompson hit a home run to put UWSP in front, 8-3.
Mallorie Kreuser (Verona, Wis./Verona) struck out three in 3.2 innings. Rizzo tossed the final 3.1 innings with two strikeouts to earn the win.
The Pointers will host St. Norbert in Wisconsin Rapids on Wednesday (Apr. 1). The twin bill is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
