Balanced Attack Leads Pointers Past Warriors

STEVENS POINT-Five Pointers scored in double figures to lead UW-Stevens Point (4-0) to a 93-66 victory over the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors (0-3) Tuesday night at Berg Gym. The win marks the tenth consecutive win over the Warriors and improves the Pointers overall record to 10-2 in the series.

The Pointers opened the game on a 21-7 run and never looked back in the first half leading 52-33 at the break. UW-Stevens Point shot 63.6 percent in the half and was 4 of 9 from three-point range.

In the second half the Pointers went on a 15-4 run to take a 75-49 lead midway through frame. UW-Stevens Point shot 59.3 percent from the field for the game while holding the Warriors to 39.3 percent from the floor.

Britta Petersen (Luck) led the Pointers with 14 points and seven rebounds, shooting 5-of-7 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line.

Cassie Bandow (Plover) added 12 points and Ashley Windt (Hurley) contributed 10 for the Pointers. Andrea Flease (New London) scored 11 points and led the Pointers with seven assists. Josi Schultz (Eau Claire) came off the bench and added 10 points to go with seven rebounds.

Defensively for the Pointers Ashley Averkamp (New Berlin) led the team with four steals and added seven points.

Erika Laete led all scorers with 18 points and Whitney Miller added 16 for the Wisconsin Lutheran.

The Pointers return to action on Saturday, November 28 when they travel to Bloomington, Ill. to take on sixth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
