ST. PETER, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team outshot Gustavus Adolphus 12-3 on Sunday afternoon, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal, but neither team was able to sneak one past their opposing goalkeeper, as the teams battled to a 0-0 tie in non-conference action this afternoon.
Pointer keeper
Liz Hunter (Stevens Point) logged all 110 minutes in net, notching one save. Her counterpart, Jessica Richert, also played the full game in goal, stopping all six Pointer shot attempts.
This marks the first tie for the Pointer women's soccer team since the 2007 season, when they officially tied the University of Chicago 0-0 in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, but advanced on penalty kicks 5-4. The last regular season tie for the Pointers was also in 2007, a 0-0 game against Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Ill. on Sept. 2.
The Pointers (6-3-1) return to action on Thursday, Oct. 8 when they travel to UW-Platteville for a 7 p.m. match-up with the Pioneers under the lights at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
