Box Score Box Score

STEVENS POINT – With the rain pouring down on both teams Wednesday afternoon, the Pointer women's soccer team poured on the goals, notching a 9-0 shutout non-conference victory over the Green Knights of St. Norbert College at the Point Soccer Bowl.

The Pointers (11-3-1), already with the team's 13th league title in hand, got everyone involved early and often, as senior forward Jackie Spees (Wisconsin Rapids) tallied her eighth and ninth goals of the season in the first half, one just two minutes in and the other just before the end of the half, giving Stevens Point a 2-0 advantage.

In the second half, after an own-goal by the Green Knights made the score 3-0, Kirsti Nickels (Appleton) tallied two straight Pointer goals, her 11th and 12th of the season, pushing the advantage to 5-0.

Just one minute later, Spees added her third goal of the game on an assist from Nickels to give the Pointers a 6-0 edge. From there, Angela Gallow (Menasha) and Jessica Wieland (Muskego) added goals for the Pointers, the first of the season for both and Wieland added a second with just over two minutes remaining to give UWSP the 9-0 edge.

Liz Hunter (Stevens Point) and Kayla Skotzke (Phillips) teamed for the shutout, as neither recorded a save in the victory. The Pointers out-shot the Green Knights 37-1 on the day including a 23-0 edge in shots on goal.

The Pointers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 when they host UW-Superior in the team's final conference match-up of the season. Game time is set for 2 p.m. A win over the Yellowjackets will give the Pointers their 11th undefeated conference season.
