ST. PETER, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's soccer team (3-4-0) fell at Gustavus Adolphus (3-2-1) in non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon by a 3-1 final.
The host Gusties broke the scoreless draw in the 23rd minute. GAC doubled its lead in the 37th minute and the Pointers trailed at the half, 2-0.
Connor Urban (Waukesha, Wis./West) scored his second goal of the season in the 52nd minute to get UWSP within a goal.
Marcelo Chavez (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) had an assist on the play, his second helper of the year.
UWSP kept pressing for the tying goal, but the Gusties got on the board again in the 90th minute to close out the comeback bid.
Jacob Havlik (Onalaska, WIs./Onalaska) was back in net for the Pointers. He made seven saves. Urban and Dylan Moroski each had a shot on goal for UWSP.
The Pointers travel to Iowa on Saturday (Sept. 26) to take on Coe at 3:00 p.m.
