ROGERS, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team was shut out at Bethel by a 7-0 final on Friday.
Anthony Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) battled to a super-breaker at No. 3 singles. He fell in the opening set, 6-4, before levelling the match with a 6-1 win in set two. Then in the super-breaker, he nearly completed the comeback, falling 12-10.
Ayden Knuth (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) dropped his No. 5 singles match by a 7-5, 6-4 final.
Jacob Stinski (Oshkosh, Wis./West) and
Ben Temple (Rockford, Ill./Lutheran) each won four games at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
In doubles play, Knuth and
Augie Nelson (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Jacobs) fell at No. 1, 7-5.
Dawson Froemming (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) and Janes came up short, 6-4, at No. 2.
The Pointers travel to Illinois Tech for a 2:30 p.m. match on Sunday (Mar. 8).
