NEENAH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team extended its win streak to four with a 6-1 win over Edgewood and a 7-0 victory over Lawrence on Sunday.
UWSP swept doubles play in both matches. In the win over Edgewood,
Ayden Knuth (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) and
Augie Nelson (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Jacobs) needed a tiebreak at No. 1 doubles, 7-6 (3).
Dawson Froemming (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) and
Anthony Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) got a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) and
Jacob Stinski (Oshkosh, Wis./West) earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
Against Lawrence, Knuth and Nelson and Froemming and Janes both won, 6-2. No 3 pair of
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and
Alexander Sedlacek (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) won, 6-3.
In singles play, Kryscio needed a super-breaker at No. 2 winning by a 7-6 (3), 4-6, 1-0 (4) final against Edgewood. He got a 6-2, 6-1 win versus LU.
Janes won at No. 3 singles in both matches, 6-1, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-1. Stinski rolled a 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 4 singles in both matches. Knuth won bit No. 5 singles by 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 scores. Nelson got 6-1, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1 wins at No. 6 singles.
Froemming got a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles against Lawrence. He won seven games in a defeat against EU.
UWSP will travel to Minnesota on Friday (Mar. 6) to face Bethel at 6:30 p.m.
