STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's volleyball team (4-5) swept visiting Marian (3-6) on Friday night in Quandt Fieldhouse.
Hudson Dresen (Franksville, Wis./Union Grove) had a game-high 15 kills.
Nate Arndorfer (Lino Lakes, Minn./Totino Grace) was also in double figures with 10 kills.
Sam Jolin (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) and
Ben Feld (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) each had double-digit assists with 22 and 17, respectively.
Liam Robertson (Waukesha, Wis./North) led all players with 20 digs.
Cael Bertrandt (Big Bend, Wis./Mukwonago) and Dresen had two kills each as the teams tied at 6-6 early. Arndorfer had three blocks and three kills as UWSP seized control with a 16-1 run. Arndorfer finished the 25-13 win with another kill.
Arndorfer, Dresen and
Kyle Smith (Waukesha, Wis./West) combined for seven kills as UWSP had a 10-9 edge in the second. Dresen racked up six more kills in the set as the teams battled until the Pointers prevailed at 33-31, the longest set of the program's history.
Dylan Niznik (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) and Feld each had an ace early in the third as UWSP opened a 12-4 lead.
Ethan Jetzer (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan) had a pair of kills. Owen Anderson had a kill for a 20-9 lead.
Rikhil Patidar (Waukesha, Wis./South) put an end to the Sabres' 10-3 run with a match-ending kill for the 25-20 win.
The Pointers travel to the Lakeland Tournament on Feb. 14 to face UC-Santa Cruz at 1:00 p.m. and Wittenberg at 3:30 p.m.
