Box Score 2 BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team dropped duals to Bethany Lutheran, 6-1, and Macalester, 4-3, on Friday while playing six super-breakers in singles play on the day.
Dawson Froemming (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) and
Ayden Knuth (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) got a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles, but BLC took the double team point.
Reigning WIAC Singles Player of the Week
Ben Temple (Rockford, Ill./Lutheran) got a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles to avoid the shutout. Froemming,
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls),
Anthony Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) and
Jacob Stinski (Oshkosh, Wis./West) all played to super-breakers coming up short at No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 singles, respectively.
In the match at Macalester, Froemming and Knuth again got a win at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, but the Pointers didn't get the team doubles point.
Temple kept on winning with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Knuth got the win at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Stinski finally broke through in super-breaker fashion, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (6). Janes also played another super-breaker, but fell short.
UWSP will head to Iowa on Feb. 14 to face Wabash and Coe.
