NEENAH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team picked up wins over Loras, 5-2, and Ripon, 7-0, in action on Sunday in Neenah.
In the win over Loras,
Dawson Froemming (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) won a super-breaker at No. 1 singles by a 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (8) score.
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) got a tiebreak win in the first set to win at No. 2 singles, 7-6 (5), 7-5.
Jacob Stinski (Oshkosh, Wis./West) also needed a super-breaker to win his No. 3 singles match, 6-4, 0-6, 1-0 (7).
Ayden Knuth (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) fell in both a tiebreak and super-breaker at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 0-1 (5).
Ben Temple (Rockford, Ill./Lutheran) and
Augie Nelson (Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Jacobs) rolled to straight-sets victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
In the nightcap versus Ripon, Stinski and Nelson got straight-sets wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) got a tiebreak victory in set two to win, 6-0, 7-6 (5).
Alexander Sedlacek (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port),
Luca Hettstedt (Marbella, Spain/German School Marbella) and
Brady Wierzbicki (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) rolled to straight-sets wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The Pointers also swept the doubles action against Ripon. Froemming and Knuth won, 6-3. Kryscio and Stinski won, 6-1, and Schreier and Nelson got a 6-2 win.
UWSP returns to Neenah for matches against Edgewood and Lawrence on Sunday (Mar. 1) at 1:00 and 5:00 p.m., respectively.
