WAUKESHA, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's soccer team (8-1-2) played to a 1-1 tie at Carroll (3-5-1) on Tuesday in non-conference play.
Marcelo Chavez (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) scored his first goal of the season in the 41st minute, an unassisted goal, to put the Pointers ahead at the break.
UWSP held the one-goal advantage until the 79th minute. The Pioneers tied the match on their only shot on goal of the game.
Chavez nearly had a brace and the game-winner in the 88th minute, but his shot rang off the post.
The Pointers are back on the road on Saturday (Oct. 4) to begin league play at UW-Whitewater at 7:00 p.m.
