MEQUON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's soccer team (8-1-1) defeated Concordia (Wis.) (1-5-3) by a 3-2 final on Saturday.
Devin Wilkerson (La Crosse, Wis./Central) put the Pointers in front in the third minute with an unassisted goal.
Jaxon Buckley (Kingsford, Mich./Kingsford) gave UWSP a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute, his fifth match with at least one goal in the last six matches.
CUW got one back with a goal in the 47th minute to cut UWSP's lead to 2-1.
The Pointers regained a two-goal advantage with
Tyler Hagen's (Union Grove, Wis./Union Grove) first career goal in the 51st minute.
Cameron Jochimsen (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) and
Connor Urban (Waukesha, Wis./West) provided assists on the eventual game winner.
The Falcons got within a goal again in the 64th minute.
UWSP goalkeeper
Jacob Havlik (Onalaska, WIs./Onalaska) made two saves in the win. CUW goalkeeper Logan Montgomery made eight saves. The Pointers racked up 12 corner kicks.
The Pointers hit the road again to face Carroll in Waukesha on Tuesday (Sept. 30) for a 7:00 p.m. match.
