RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point men's soccer team (5-0-0) scored a season-high four goals in a 4-1 win at Concordia University Chicago (1-3-1) on Thursday afternoon.
Connor Urban (Waukesha, Wis./West) got the scoring started int eh 27th minute, his team-leading third goal of the year.
Charlie McGinnis (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) and
Carter Smith (Milton, Wis./Milton) had assists on the goal.
CUC tied the game in the 30th minute.
Three minutes later,
Jaxon Buckley (Kingsford, Mich./Kingsford) put the Pointers back in front. His eventual game-winner was assisted on by
Cameron Jochimsen (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) and Urban off a corner kick.
Early in the second half,
Noah Johnson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) scored his first career goal.
Devin Wilkerson (La Crosse, Wis./Central) had an assist on the goal.
Kristofer Ruiz (El Paso, Texas/El Paso) tallied his first career goal in the 86th minute. Smith added an assist, his first career multi-point match.
Jacob Havlik (Onalaska, WIs./Onalaska) needed to make just two saves to earn the win. CUC played two goalkeepers, one in each half, and they both made three saves.
The Pointers are back home for a 4:00 p.m. match against Viterbo on Sunday (Sept. 14).
