OSHKOSH, Wis.—The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's track and field teams both finished eighth at the WIAC Outdoor Championships (presented by Culver's). The men and women both finished with team scores of 22.
Results
The men added on 21 points after day one with top-eight finishes from
Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus),
Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake),
Jack Marsh (Pulaski, Wis./Pulaski),
Jack Gjovik (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines),
Tyler Nosko (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka), the 4x100-meter relay team and the 4x400-meter relay team.
Rennhack finished fifth in the shot put with a heave of 17.04 meters.
Penzkover took sixth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:54.30.
Marsh had a throw of 50.41 meters in the discus throw to finish sixth.
Gjovik earned a sixth-place finish with a leap of 14.02 meters in the triple jump.
Nosko held onto eighth place in the 800-meter run finals with a time of 1:54.19.
The 4x100-meter relay team of
Thomas Cole (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc),
Jake Wurster (Island Lake, Ill./Wauconda),
Andrew Vold (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) and
Thomas Trudgeon (Bessemer, Mich./A.D.Johnston) took fifth with a time of 42.97.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Mason Mead (Wausau, Wis./West),
Ben Kempe (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH), Will Garcia Heinrich and
Bennett Krause (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) finished sixth with a time of 3:16.90.
The women added on 16 points after day two with top-eight finishes from
Guadalupe Corn (Keshena, Wis./Menominee Indian),
Madeline Zirbel (De Pere, Wis./De Pere), the 4x100-meter relay team and the 4x400-meter relay team.
Corn had a heave of 12.95 meters in the shot put to finish fifth.
Zirbel posted a mark of 1.60 meters in the high jump to take fifth place.

The 4x400-meter relay team of
Kya Smith (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa),
Adyn Theriault (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson),
Malina Carattini (Mosinee, Wis/Mosinee) and
Audrey Rabitz (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) finished with a time of 4:03.60 to take sixth place.
The UWSP men's and women's track and field teams are back in action on Friday (May 9) for day one of the St. Francis Fighting Chance meet in Joliet, Ill.
