Five UWSP Softball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team had five athletes - Rachel Baker (Richmond, Ill./Richmond-Burton Community), Emmie Cibrario (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper), Sophia Heckendorf (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran), Jesse Klicker (Spring Grove, Ill/Richmond-Burton Community) and Kaitlyn Roberts (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) - earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team as announced on Tuesday (May 27).

Baker received her third-straight academic all-district nod. This season, she posted a .289 batting average with 37 hits, seven doubles, one triple, one home run and 17 RBI along with 20 stolen bases. In the WIAC, Baker ranked second in walks with 24, third with 20 stolen bases and seventh in runs scored with 35. She has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in the 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic school years.
 
Cibrario earned her third academic all-district accolade. She ended the season with a .254 batting average with 41 hits, four doubles, two triples and 15 RBI along with nine stolen bases. Cibrario led the WIAC in sacrifice bunts with 11 and ranked ninth in triples. She earned a spot on to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in the 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic school years.
 
Heckendorf was awarded her second academic all-district honor. She posted a .279 batting average with 29 hits, six doubles and 15 RBI along with 14 stolen bases.  Heckendorf ended the season ranked ninth in the WIAC for stolen bases. She has been named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years.
 
Klicker earned her first academic all-district accolade. She ended the season with a team-high .331 batting average with 48 hits, seven doubles, three triples, six home runs and 30 RBI along with 16 stolen bases. In the WIAC, she ranked third in triples, fourth in home runs, seventh in stolen bases, 10th in hit by pitches with four, 11th in RBI and 12th in hits and runs scored. Klicker is the new record holder in career triples and stolen bases, both records were set this season. She earned her way onto the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years. Along with her academic all-district honor, this season Klicker earned All-WIAC honorable mention as well as a selection to the Oshkosh NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team.
 
Roberts received her first academic all-district nod. She posted a .286 batting average with 42 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 25 RBI along with 16 stolen bases. Roberts found herself ranked fifth in the WIAC for hit by pitches with six, sixth in stolen bases and runs scored, eighth in triples and ninth in doubles and home runs. She was named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll last year as a freshman. Roberts was named the WIAC Kwik Trip Position Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 17-23 and was a selection to the Oshkosh NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team.
 
The UWSP softball team (31-15) wrapped up their season on Friday (May 23), falling to Trine University in the Super Regionals of the NCAA Tournament. It was the Pointers' first-ever trip to the Super Regional round. UWSP set a single season-record this year with 117 stolen bases.
