LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Morgan Harwood (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) and
Hailee Thompson (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) of the UW-Stevens Point softball team were named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region VIII teams announced on Friday (May 15). Thompson earned second-team honors while Harwood picked up a third-team selection.

Thompson earns her first career all-region nod. She was named to the All-WIAC first team earlier this week. This season, Thompson leads the team in batting average (.380), slugging percentage (.641) and doubles (15). Her six home runs, 26 RBI and 30 runs scored are all second-best on the team.
Harwood collects her third-straight all-region award after first-team honors the last two seasons. She was also selected to the All-WIAC first team earlier this week, the third-straight time for that honor. This season, Harwood is 10-4 with a 1.91 earned run average. She leads the team with 84 strikeouts in a team-high 88.0 innings pitched. As a hitter, Harwood in batting .311with three home runs and eight RBI.
The Pointers face Bethany Lutheran at 1:30 p.m. today in an elimination game at the NCAA Tournament regionals in Winona. The winner will advance to another elimination game at 4:00 p.m. today.
