5/21/2025 11:07:00 AM

ANGOLA, Ind. - The UW-Stevens Point softball team (31-13) travels to Angola, Ind., to face No. 5 Trine University (39-5) in the Pointers' first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament Super Regional round. In addition to making the program's first Super Regional appearance, UWSP is part of WIAC history joining UW-Whitewater as the first time two conference teams have reached the Super Regionals in the same season.

Super Regional Game Notes

The Pointers won the Oshkosh Regional by going 3-1 last week with wins over Central (Iowa) in the opening round and by defeating host UW-Oshkosh twice, including the decisive game 7.

UWSP posted two shutouts in the Regional Round with wins by 3-0 and 1-0 finals. Two of the Pointers' wins came by a home run accounting for the scoring. Kaitlyn Roberts (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) belted a solo home run to lead off the game in the 1-0 win over UW-Oshkosh in the winner's bracket. Jesse Klicker (Spring Grove, Ill/Richmond-Burton Community) belted a decisive three-run home run to clinch game 7's 3-1 win over UWO.

Several Pointers on the 2025 squad own or are close to individual program records. Junior pitcher Ashley Zygowski (Saukville, Wis./Port Washington) has far surpassed the program record in saves. She has 27 in her career and leads the country for the second-straight year in the category with 11 this season. She had 15 saves last year.

Senior Jesse Klicker (Spring Grove, Ill/Richmond-Burton Community) is tied for the career record in stolen bases with 58. She is tied with Sara Traxel (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek), who set the record a season ago. Klicker also owns the program record for career triples with 16.

Sophomore pitcher Morgan Harwood (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) has made 26 starts in UWSP's 44 games. Those 26 starts are a single-season school record. She has already appeared in 39 games, also a single-season record. This season, Harwood is second in the WIAC in wins (16) and leads the league in strikeouts (164) and appearances (39).

Senior Rachel Baker (Richmond, Ill./Richmond-Burton Community) has 20 stolen bases this season. She is three shy of tying the single season record. She is at 53 stolen bases in her career, nipping at the heels of Klicker for the school record.

With the help of Baker's team-high 20, the Pointers as a team set a new single season record for team stolen bases which sits at 115.

Game 1 of the Super Regional round begins at 2:00 p.m. ET on Thursday (May 22). Game 2 is at 1:00 p.m. ET on Friday (May 23) and game 3, if necessary, will begin at 3:30 p.m. ET on Friday.
