EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team opened conference play with a 5-2 loss at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday.
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) won his No. 1 singles match by a 7-6 (2), 7-5 final, one of UWSP's tiebreak wins.
Anthony Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) won at No. 6 singles with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 score, another tiebreak win for the Pointers.
In doubles play, No. 3 duo
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) and
Ben Temple (Rockford, Ill./Lutheran) prevailed in a 7-6 (7) tiebreak. At No. 2 doubles,
Ayden Knuth (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) and
Malcolm Rice (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) also played a tiebreak, falling, 7-6 (5).
The Pointers are home for the first time in the spring season with a 3:00 p.m. conference match against UW-La Crosse on Tuesday (April 8) at University Courts.
