NEENAH, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team got a pair of wins in the second-straight Sunday of doubleheader action. UWSP defeated Edgewood, 7-0, before getting a 6-1 win over Lawrence.
UWSP took the doubles team point in both matches. The duos of
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and
Frederick Diehl (Minneapolis, Minn./Academy of Holy Angles) at No. 1,
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) and
Ben Temple (Rockford, Ill./Lutheran) at No. 2 and
Dawson Froemming (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) and Dominick Hendrickson at No. 3 won all three doubles matches in both.
In singles play, Benoy won easily against Edgewood at No. 1 singles by a 6-1, 6-2 score. Against LU, he rallied for a super-breaker win, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (4).
Froemming, Diehl and
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) all got straight-sets wins in both matches. Kryscio, Temple and
Luca Hettstedt (Marbella, Spain/German School Marbella) earned singles wins as well. Temple had the most challenging match up taking a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles against the Vikings.
The Pointers return to Neenah on March 30 for matchups against Concordia (Wis.) and Olivet Nazarene.
