WATERTOWN, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's volleyball team (13-6) outscored Maranatha Baptist (0-10) by a 75-33 margin in a sweep on Monday.
Alex Kimbel (Madison, Wis./Memorial) was the only player to post double digits for the Pointers with 10 assists on the night. He also had two aces.
Gabriel LoGalbo (Stevens Point, Wis./Three Lakes) and
Ethan Jetzer (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan) led the Pointers with six kills each.
Josh Brogren (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) and
Rikhil Patidar (Waukesha, Wis./South) tied for the team lead with four digs.
Jetzer and
Kyle Smith (Waukesha, Wis./West) had two kills each as UWSP jumped in front 11-7.
Sam Jolin (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) served up three aces in a 9-0 run and
Cael Bertrandt (Big Bend, Wis./Mukwonago) had two late kills as UWSP Took the first set, 25-10.
Nate Olson (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) had two kills early as the Pointers took a 10-3 lead in the second. Olson and Patidar had two kills apiece late as UWSP cruised to a 2-9 win in set two.
Kimbel and Patidar each had an ace in a 10-1 start to the third for UWSP. Patidar and LoGalbo had two kills each late as UWSP finished the sweep with a 25-14 set three win.
The Pointers are home on Sunday (March 2) for the UWSP Invitational. UWSP faces Viterbo at 12:00 p.m. and Concordia University Chicago at 4:00 p.m. in Berg Gym.
