GREEN BAY, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team got a 6-1 win against St. Norbert in Green Bay on Sunday.
The Pointers took the double point with No. 2 pair
Ayden Knuth (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) and
Malcolm Rice (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) and No. 3 duo
Dominik Hendrickson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) and
Dawson Froemming (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) winning. Knuth and Rice won 6-3. Hendrickson and Froemming needed a tie break, 7-6 (2), for the win.
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) also needed a tiebreak in his No. 1 singles victory. After winning the first set, 6-2, he battled to a 7-6 (3) win in set two.
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) required a super-breaker to take his No. 3 singles match. He split the first two sets by 6-3 scores. In the super-breaker, he got the win, 10-5.
Anthony Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) shut out his opponent at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Frederick Diehl (Minneapolis, Minn./Academy of Holy Angles) and
Luca Hettstedt (Marbella, Spain/German School Marbella) only dropped three games each in wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Pointers take on Loras and Carroll in Neenah on Sunday (Feb. 23) beginning at 9:00 a.m.
