NEW ORLEANS, La. – The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's cross country teams both earned All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced on Thursday (Jan. 30).

UWSP's men's team had a team 3.64 grade point average. The women's team had a team GPA of 3.34.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
Six members of the men's team, Mateo Alvarado-Venegas,
Mike Brown (Butternut, Wis./Butternut),
Dean Montour (Middleton, Wis./Middleton),
Logan Murphy (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls),
Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) and
Ryan Rininger (Wauconda, Ill/Wauconda) picked up individual All-Academic honors.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
