MADISON, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's volleyball team (5-3) won its fourth-consecutive match, all by sweep, with a 3-0 win at Edgewood (1-4).
Hudson Dresen (Franksville, Wis./Union Grove) was in double figures for the first time this season with a match-best 16 kills.
Sam Jolin (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) led all players with 31 assists on the night.
Liam Robertson (Waukesha, Wis./North) had a match-high 15 digs.
Dresen and
Dylan Niznik (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) combined for five kills as the Pointers' first seven point came via kill for a 7-5 lead. Dresen added two more kills in a 4-0 run as UWSP doubled up the Eagles, 14-7.
Cael Bertrandt (Big Bend, Wis./Mukwonago) had two kills and a block as the Pointers took the opening set, 25-15.
Dresen had four kills as the Pointers opened up a 13-8 advantage in the second.
Nate Olson (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) added a pair of kills and
Spencer Baeckman (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) secured a 25-18 second-set win with a kill.
In the third set, Dresen had three kills early as UWSP took a 10-8 lead.
Kyle Smith (Waukesha, Wis./West) had a solo block during a 6-1 run as the Pointers went ahead, 19-14. Dresen, Olson and Bertrandt each had a kill as the Pointers finished the sweep with a 25-22 win.
UWSP will travel to Indiana on Saturday (Feb. 1) for a trio of matches. The Pointers face Mount St. Joseph at 10:00 a.m. ET, Greenville and 12:00 p.m. ET and host Wabash at 2:00 p.m. ET.
