Wilkerson Nets Another Game-Winner as Pointers Record First Home Victory

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's soccer team (2-0-2) won its first home match in program history on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Concordia (Wis.) (0-1-1).

Neither team scored in the first half as UWSP outshot CUW 6-1 in the first 45.

In the 59th minute, the scoreless tie was broken. Riley Nycz (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) corralled the ball near midfield. He sent Cameron Jochimsen (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) down the right side. After getting past two defenders in the box, Jochimsen passed to Devin Wilkerson (La Crosse, Wis./Central) for a one-touch go-ahead goal.

UWSP goalkeeper Jacob Havlik (Onalaska, WIs./Onalaska) made it stand up as he made two saves to keep the clean sheet. In the 84th minute, UWSP's defense cleared the ball off the line to aid him in the shutout.

The Pointers travel to Minnesota to take on Hamline on Tuesday (Sept. 10). Kick off in St. Paul is slated for 4:00 p.m.
