RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's soccer team (6-2-3) got a pair of goals in the second half to defeat UW-River Falls (2-6-0) by a 2-0 final in non-conference play on Saturday.
The Pointers earned the first penalty kick in program history in the 12th minute of play.
Riley Nycz (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) stepped up to the spot, but his low shot was saves off the line by UWRF goalkeeper Alvaro Boned.
Cameron Jochimsen (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) put the Pointers ahead in the 67th minute with the eventual game-winner. His go-ahead goal was unassisted.
Jochimsen netted a brace in the 75th minute with
Jack Hudson (Delafield, Wis./Arrowhead) and
Marcelo Chavez (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) providing assists. With his two goals on Saturday, Jochimsen doubled his season output and is second on the team with four this season.
Jacob Havlik (Onalaska, WIs./Onalaska) made six saves in net to record his second-consecutive clean sheet. The shutout lowered his season goals against average to 0.77.
The Pointers return home to face Beloit on Wednesday (Oct. 2). Start time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
