BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team suffered its first defeat of the fall with a 5-2 loss at Olivet Nazarene on Saturday.
The UWSP doubles teams were all defeated with the No. 1 duo of
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and
Frederick Diehl (Minneapolis, Minn./Academy of Holy Angles) narrowly missing a tiebreak scenario falling, 7-5.
Benoy fell at No. 1 singles winning two games in each set.
Dawson Froemming (Cedarburg, Wis./Cedarburg) won five games in his No. 2 singles defeat.
Connor Kryscio got the Pointers on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.
Anthony Janes (Bismarck, N.D./Legacy) won at No. 6 singles, 7-6, 6-0.
Malcolm Rice (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) forced a first set tiebreak at No. 4 singles, but dropped the match 7-6 (2), 6-0.
The Pointers travel to Saint Peter, Minn. For the ITA Regionals beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday (Sept. 27).
