PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point track and field teams traveled to Platteville for the WIAC Championships (presented by Culver's) with both teams sitting in seventh. The men scored 10 team points and the women tallied four team points.
Results
For the men,
Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) earned a spot in the 800-meter run finals after placing second with a blazing time of 1:51.78.
Austin Rennhack (Columbus, Wis./Columbus) continued his strong campaign as the Pointers lead thrower with a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 50.11 meters (164' 5"). He also logged an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw with a heave of 51.33 meters (168' 5").
Austin Phillips (Two Rivers, Wis./Two Rivers) qualified for the 400-meter hurdles finals with a time of 55.63 which granted him a sixth-place finish.
For the women,
Ashley Bartelt (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) ran a quick time of 1:03.07 to win the preliminary race of the 400-meter hurdles to advance to the finals.
Lindsey Taylor (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) registered a sixth-place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 34.85 meters (114' 4").
Anetha Vogele (Necedah, Wis./Necedah) qualified for the finals in the 400-meter dash with her qualifying time of 58.60 which placed her seventh overall.
Natalie Johnson (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) finished 10
th in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:28.59.
The Pointers will resume action at the WIAC Championships on Saturday (May 4). First events are scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
