STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to visiting UW-Eau Claire on Friday in the final home match of the season.
The No. 1 doubles team of
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and
Frederick Diehl (Minneapolis, Minn./Academy of Holy Angles) won an 8-4 final to pick up UWSP's point in the match.
Benoy fell at No. 1 singles in three sets, 1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Diehl took his No. 2 singles match to three sets, also coming up short, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Conner Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) dropped a tiebreak in the first set, 7-6 (6), at No. 3 singles. He lost the second set, 6-2.
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) won six games at No. 4 singles.
Luca Hettstedt (Marbella, Spain/German School Marbella) fell at No. 5 singles by a 6-3, 6-3 score.
Dominik Hendrickson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) won three games at No. 6 singles.
Hendrickson and Kryscio fell at No. 2 doubles, 8-5. At No. 3 doubles,
Samuel Zapata (Envigado, Col./Colegio Colombo Britanico) and
Dan Harris (Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona) were on the short end of an 8-2 score.
The Pointers travel to Kenosha on Saturday (April 13) to take on Elmhurst and Carthage. Action begins at 1:00 p.m.
