VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The UW-Stevens Point track and field national qualifiers concluded action at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships and the indoor season in Virginia Beach on Friday (Mar. 8).
Results
The relay team of
Logan Lutz (Greendale, Wis./Greendale),
Brad Brewer (Slinger, Wis./Slinger),
Blake Lobner (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Assumption) and
Derek Penzkover (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) raced their way to All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 9:55.64. The Pointers unit made a late push in the final stretch to climb their way into the top-eight.
Rachel Krouse (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) ran in the 5000-meter run and made a closely-contested push, but ultimately placed 10
th with a time of 17:00.22, just missing the top-eight.
Braedon Gilles (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) ran in the 800-meter run and made a late push to finish second in his heat. He finished 11
th overall, narrowly missing the top-eight and a trip to the finals.
The Pointers return to action on Friday (Mar. 29) to begin the outdoor season at the Washington University Distance Carnival.
