REEDSBURG, Wis. – UW-Stevens Point men's basketball freshman
Josiah Butler (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) was recently named Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) DIII Men's Newcomer of the Year.

Butler garnered a league honor in his first campaign at UWSP from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), earning a spot on the All-WIAC team.
He started all 27 games and average 13.6 points per game, second to
Malik Abdul-Wahid (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) on the team. Butler led the Pointers in three-point shooting with 47 makes and a team-high 1.7 makes per game. He also led the Pointers with 86 made free throws. His 55 assists were second on the team. Butler had one double-double on the year and scored in double figures in 21 games, including a season-high 25 points at Trine (Dec. 9).
Butler helped push the Pointers to 14-13 record and a WIAC tournament first round victory over UW-Whitewater.
