STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team fell to visiting Lawrence by a 9-0 score in the spring home opener.
The Pointers battled to a trio of super-breaker outcomes.
Jackson Andrews (Madison, Wis./La Follette) dropped a super-breaker at No. 4 singles. He won the first set, 7-5. After dropping the second set, 6-4, he also came up short in the super-breaker, 10-5.
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) dropped his No. 2 singles match in a super-breaker, 4-6, 6-2, 7-10.
Anthony Eiden (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) also played a super-breaker at No. 5 singles. He won the opening set, 6-4, before falling in set two, 6-2. In the super-breaker, he was on the short end of a 10-5 final.
Samuel Zapata (Envigado, Col./Colegio Colombo Britanico) and
Dan Harris (Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona) dropped an 8-4 final at No. 1 doubles. Kyle Drew and
Erik Berg (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb) fell by the same 8-4 score at No. 3 doubles.
Colin McCurdy (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) won five games at No. 6 singles.
Jordan Roo (Champlin, Minn./) and
Austin Kahl (Janesville, Wis./Craig) dropped their No. 2 doubles match, 8-3.
The Pointers travel to Iowa for a match at Cornell on March 30. First serve is slated for 12:30 p.m.
