CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point men's tennis team began its spring season with a 9-0 loss at Coe and an 8-1 defeat to Morningside on Saturday.
Dominik Hendrickson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) and
Hayden Schreier (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) picked up UWSP's lone win of the day, an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles versus Morningside.
Luca Hettstedt (Marbella, Spain/German School Marbella) fell in a super-breaker at No. 4 singles against Coe. He took the opening set, 6-3, before falling, 6-1, in set two. Then in the super-breaker, he came up just short, 12-10.
Connor Kryscio (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) also played a super-breaker on the day. He split sets both at 6-4. Then in the super-breaker, he fell, 10-4.
Steven Benoy (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) and
Frederick Diehl (Minneapolis, Minn./Academy of Holy Angles) won five points at No. 1 doubles versus MU. They won three versus Coe.
The Pointers will travel to Oshkosh on Thursday (Feb. 8) to conclude the suspended match against Hamline from last fall. Action will begin at 7:00 p.m.
